Derek Nicoletto is pleased to return his rock band Foam Ropes to Rockwood Music Hall on Sat. Nov. 7th at midnight. This time, we are joined by the crazy-talented Sam Morales on b/g vocals & Josh Pillbox on bass. For this set only, Tommy,Andrew and I are going to throw in a song or two from our old band Telling on Trixie. And as usual, some Fleetwood Mac will be worked into the arrangement of one of our songs.
Longtime listeners will remember Derek Nicoletto from his earlier appearance back in 2012 – an interview that remains among my favorites. I was really excited to talk to Derek again, this time about his new band Foam Ropes, which puts his solid songwriting in a fresh new framework. Derek has a real gift for writing evocative lyrics and melodies. When coupled with his unique ability to communicate his artistic process, we have a really great interview that I’m so happy to share this with you guys! Enjoy! - Michael Harren, Mikeypod

Derek admits, "This is the most mellow of the Foam Ropes songs and should not be taken to dictate our band's sound as a whole. But there's a personal timing reason that guided me to share this song now, and before the Foam Ropes album was finished. Plus, we just needed to get some material out there. It's hard to talk about your band in a vacuum."

From House of O at Maison O. Amidst the awesome music downstairs after the supper club, they were kind enough to ask Kiyanu (guitars, MD), Leo (percussion) and I to do a mini- rock set on the dance floor. It was so cool. If you haven't been to House of O at Maison O yet, please go! It's definitely a ton of fun, fabulousness but no icky attitude, and it reminds me of the parties we used to have in NYC when I moved here in '98. It was such a wonderful experience singing face-to-face for some of NYC nightlife's legends.
Here I am with Leo Freire, my awesome, cool drummer.
